New Year's Resolutions to Improve your Wellbeing
With the New Year around the corner, its time to think of your new year’s resolutions. Most people always choose a new year’s resolution that can be quite hard to stick to, however we’ve come up with new year’s resolutions that are going to better your wellbeing. Whether that be physical or mental health - it’s important to set goals to give yourself time to improve your wellbeing!
Get Outdoors
This is an easy resolution to make going into 2022. It’s about getting yourself outside in the fresh air and giving yourself time to relax and re-energise from the busy day to day life. There is no pressure to go to the extremes with this resolution either, getting outdoors can vary from taking a walk where you live, to hiking up mountains - it’s completely up to you.
The benefits to getting outdoors on both your mental and physical health are incredible. Getting outdoors improves your mood, reduces feelings of stress or anger, makes you more active and helps you take time out from modern stresses to refresh your mind and body.
Practice Self-Care
Within the last 2 years, practicing self-care has become incredibly important. However, not a lot of people practice self-care as much as they should. We’d recommend giving yourself a couple of hours a day or week that is dedicated to you. Take yourself somewhere you enjoy, whether that be for a hike, trip to the beach, walk in the park or a trip to your local town or even a spa day. Give yourself time to sit, relax and do things you enjoy. Practicing self-care will boost your serotonin levels and reduce anxiety and stress.
Take up a new hobby
It can be incredibly hard for people to enjoy what they love when they’re so busy with day-to-day life. However, taking up a new hobby can be incredibly beneficial for your wellbeing, you can dedicate specific times a week to this hobby, or if it’s a hobby that you can do with others then it will motivate you more to keep it going!
Do 10,000 Steps a day
The recommended average step count a day is 10,000 steps, so we would recommend that everyone should try and achieve this amount of steps a day. This will keep you fit and healthy and encourages you to get on your feet and out and about! Doing 10,000 steps a day can lead you to going on regular walks each day as well as getting you to experience new places you may never have thought of visiting!
Eat Healthy
It can be pretty easy to say that you’re going to eat healthily for your new year’s resolution and then never go through with it. However, we’ve got some tips that will help you eat healthily whilst also indulging on those sweet treats.
- 1.Look for healthy recipes that appeal to what you like to eat! – Choosing recipes that are healthy but also sound appealing is important. You might not be happy to eat food that doesn’t sound appealing, but there are lots of recipes online and in cookbooks that sound good to eat but also taste great!
- 2.Plan your meals – We recommend planning your meals so that when you go to the supermarket, you can buy all the food you need for the week. This helps you avoid foods that you may not need and can also get you excited for creating healthy meals!
- 3.Everything in moderation – It’s always good to keep a balanced diet ands that is why you should eat everything in moderation. Don’t completely cut out any bad foods, use them as treats at the end of the week or at the end of every day!
