Make the most of your Bank Holiday
Everyone knows the annoyance of getting to a bank holiday and panicking about how to spend the time. In this blog, we are detailing some of our top tips on how to make the most of your bank holidays (And if you don’t have bank holidays, how to make the most of 3 days in a row off).
Allow yourself to enjoy time to relax:
Firstly, it’s important to allow yourself time to relax and unwind. It’s easy to put pressure on yourself to have a jam-packed 3 days off, but listen to your body, and if spending 3 days relaxing whilst binge-watching Netflix is what you need, then do it! Relaxing and taking care of yourself is never wasted time.
Take the time to move your body:
If you have an office job, spending your time off getting moving could be a good way to spend your break. Getting out in nature is a proven way to reduce stress and increase serotonin, creating a happier mindset. You can do anything such as hiking, running, cycling, canoeing, climbing, etc. Any way to get moving that you would find fun is a fab way to spend your time.
Try a new hobby:
We all have little hobbies that we have always wanted to try but life keeps getting in the way. Taking time over your bank holiday to try a new hobby is a great way to spend your time, you could even get the family involved. Getting your hobby up and running whilst off work means that you may be more likely to keep it going once you’ve returned to work as you will have learned the basics.
Cook a meal you’ve wanted to try:
If there is a recipe that you have had your eyes on but not had the time to master, use a few hours out of your 3 days off to get in the kitchen and get cooking. You could even invite a few people round and make an evening of it, cook your nice meal and play some board games or watch a film.
Plan something for your kids to get involved in:
Having the kids home for the bank holiday is the perfect time to get out and try something new as a family. Anything from raft building to high ropes, try and do something that is good for bonding and gets you outdoors. A fabulous way to get the kids engaged and thinking outside the box, whilst also being fun for the adults.
Coincide your annual leave with your bank holiday:
Blending your annual leave and bank holiday is a good way to utilise your time off. For example, if you use your annual leave to have a week off over the easter bank holiday, you can end up with 10 days off, whilst only using 4 days of annual leave. This can be the same over the May Day bank holiday and the Coronation bank holiday, as there are 2 Mondays off in a row.
Go Camping:
Getting out Camping over the bank holiday is a great, cost-effective way to get out of the house. You can either stay local or go on a road trip to your campsite. We have loads of fabulous tents available on our website for you to choose from. Shop now. Camping is a good way to enjoy a break, away from nature, without breaking the bank.
Plan Ahead:
If there is something you would like to do this bank holiday, it’s always best to plan it well in advance. Things over national holidays tend to book up fast, and you don’t want to get to the bank holiday and suddenly panic that there is nothing to do. If you have something in mind, it’s always best to try and book up AT LEAST 2 weeks in advance.
